A reminder that tonight we have our first Comic Book Review tonight. This month's book is DMZ Vol 1.
@imJohnBruce I was the same this morning. The animation style reminded me of Ulysses 31 but nowhere near as good.
@choobanicus Little Fears is not available through my distributors. Leisure Games will have it as they deal directly with publishers. Sorry
@choobanicus You'll need to give me the product name as the url was relying on a cookie...
Fancy trying to create a comic from scratch? Come along to our Comic Jam sessions on the last Saturday of each month. http://bit.ly/KoAJam1

So, I now have keys!  Which means I can now announce the shop address!!!

Kingdom Of Adventure, 21-23 Whytescauseway, Kirkcaldy, KY1 1XF - Google Map Link

When we opening?  Aiming for the week beginning 15th June but that's not confirmed yet!  I'll keep things updated here and via Facebook and the Twitter feeds below.

I've got some really exciting things lined up for once the shop is open and I'll post here when I have dates confirmed for them.

Tomorrow is Worldwide D&D Day in Kirkcaldy, please come along and take part as we've got 3 Dungeon Masters lined up to run the games.  It's open to anyone and everyone who is interested in trying out the game and is FREE to take part in.

Worldwide D&D Game Day in Kirkcaldy - Monster Manual 2 PDF Print E-mail

Still not quite ready to announce the property details due to some delays with the solicitors. Nothing major just a frustration...

On Sunday the 24th of May I have organised the second of the 3 Worldwide Dungeons and Dragons Game Day events for 2009. This specifically is to do with the release of Monster Manual 2 (or is it II?).

As with the previous one this event itself will involve the running of a scenario for 5 people per DM. Currently I have 2 DMs confirmed with another pencilled in, so that's 10 spaces for definite.

Should have the 3rd DM confirmed and potentially a 4th one too ahead of the event itself.

It's once again being hosted by the Kirkcaldy Gaming Club

As with the previous event it's FREE to attend and take part and everyone who plays gets something to keep.

If anyone reading this wants to DM the game then please get in touch as soon as possible via email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

The DM effectively gets to keep everything to do with the scenario including the monster miniatures (but excluding the player character miniatures).

Still not quite 100% ready to announce anything like opening dates, address or anything like that.  However...

I'm seeing my solicitor on Friday to review the paperwork with expectation that I'll be signing it soon after.  This would mean I could announce address etc.  I'm just being super-cautious!
Work needing done is now priced and monies allocated.  This has come in higher than anticipated but nothing deal breaking.
Have started building the actual initial orders for the shop.  This is harder than it sounds as I need to be confident that the products ordered will sell, ideally within 2-3 months of putting them on the shelves to justify purchase (referred to as a turn rate).  I'm not expecting to achieve that for every product I stock but I do aim to get a large proportion of products turning regularly.
Have been speaking to gaming and comic book 'celebrities' about signings and trying to co-ordinate diaries based on projected timelines.  Do they get called celebrities?  I dunno.  Seems the most relevant term but similarly doesn't feel right...

I didn't actually make it along to DWARF to chat last Friday but will be there this Friday.  Also planning to visit Leuchars' Gaming Kingdom next Monday (27th).  The Kirkcaldy club is closed this weekend so I won't be there to chat with peeps but will be there on the 3rd May with Imperial Guard orders.

Other than that it's been more thinking about stuff like "Do I have a new releases section?" and "If someone asks me if I want to buy their entire collection of [insert game/comic here] how do I work out a price?" and "What do I want to do for the shop opening?"  Lots of ideas on that last one but nothing actually decided on, will give that more focus once I have an actual opening date in mind!

Anyway, enough for now.  More soon I'm sure!

A Break In The Silence PDF Print E-mail

I've been delaying making a post as I was hoping to have something concrete to post about but that's unfortunately not quite ready to announce yet.  However rather than keeping the silence I thought I should post something on what's going on currently.

In a nutshell -
I've agreed terms on a property in Kirkcaldy, near to the High Street and the Bus Station.
I'm expecting to be signing the paperwork in the next 2 weeks once solicitors have done their bit.
I'm waiting on some quotes to do with work that needs done to the property before I sign that paperwork.
The property has great potential and those few who have seen it so far are very excited about seeing it open, especially once the event room is done up for gaming and comic book events.

Once all of that falls into place I can actually start to plan for an opening date and start ordering all the games and comics and related stuff that will fill the shelves.  So once I can start to plan all of that properly I'll come back and announce it to you all.

Some other stuff that's happening.

Been visiting the Kirkcaldy club on an almost weekly basis in recent erm weeks. As such I've been neglected some of the other clubs in Fife, apologies for that.

Tomorrow night however I will be visiting DWARF to chat with some people there and plan to have at least 1 more visit to Leuchars' Gaming Kingdom before the shop timeline really kicks in.

Upcoming events include the release of the new Imperial Guard Codex and I'm taking pre-orders for that now for delivery on or before the 3rd of May (at the Kirkcaldy Club).  Those pre-orders much be with me no later than Friday 24th April.

There's a few wargaming events coming up with Carronade in Falkirk on 9th May followed by DWARF's "Cry Havoc" Warhammer Fantasy tournament on the 30th May.

May 23rd is the 2nd of 3 Worldwide Dungeons & Dragons Game Days.  This time it's to coincide with the release of Monster Manual 2 for Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition. If the shop is open in time then this event will be held in the shop, if the shop isn't open in time then it will be hosted on the 24th instead at the Kirkcaldy club.

What else?  Erm, lots of planning being done but everything is kind of just waiting for paperwork to finalise.

More in due course, have fun!

UFS CCG Sealed Deck Event - Friday 3rd April PDF Print E-mail
Written by David Wright
Thursday, 02 April 2009 10:07

Ok so this Friday is the second and last of the FREE UFS CCG events.

It's being held at Balwearie High School in Kirkcaldy with fuller details on how to get there (if you don't already know) in the calendar entry.

This Friday's event is both for those who already know how to play and for those new to the game.  There will be at least 2 people there who can teach the game and it's definitely a game that you learn quicker through play.

There will be a tournament this Friday, likely a Sealed Deck as we didn't have enough people who knew the game last week to really run an event and the results will be recorded and uploaded to the UFS website.

As a reminder everything is free. No entry free, no need to buy anything as everything you need to play is provided.

Depending on turnout this Friday I may arrange another event in about 2-3 weeks time.  There's a new release for UFS due out in mid-April and I would be happy to host that and other UFS events in the future.  That event however will NOT be free and I'll post pricing if we go ahead.

If you want to take part please register on the website, go to the calendar section and let me know that you plan to attend.

Any problems let me know via the Contact Us section.
